Something Old:
Leon The Professional
Length: 1 hr 49 min
Rated: R
Directed by: Luc Bensson
Written by: Luc Bensson
Cast: Jean Reno, Natalie Portman, Gary OldmanSynopsis:
Professional assassin Leon reluctantly takes care of 12-year-old Mathilda, a neighbor whose parents are killed, and teaches her his trade.
Leon The Professional is one of my top ten favorite movies of all time. There really isn't much middle ground when it comes to Leon, either you love it or you don't. For those who do love this movie, it reaches a sort of cult status similar to Fight Club or The Big Lebowski. If you are skeptical, I dare you to try and only watch the first ten minutes of this movie.
Something New:
Cyrus
Length: 1 hr 32 min
Rated: R
Directed by: Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass
Written by: Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass
Cast: John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill, Marisa Tomei, Catherine KeenerSynopsis:
A recently divorced guy meets the woman of his dreams. Then he meets her son.
The premise behind Cyrus is pretty simple, just look at the synopsis, and its for that reason that I enjoyed this movie so much. Cyrus is a beautify understated romcom that doesn't need to use physical comedy or slapstick to get it's audience to laugh. The humor in Cyrus comes from human interaction and some solid acting. It was refreshing to see Reilly and Hill tone back their normally abrasive humor for this movie. Cyrus is a perfect pick for your next movie date night.
Something Good/Bad:
Chaos Theory
Length: 1 hr 25 min
Rated: PG-13
Directed by: Marcos Siega
Written by: Daniel Taplitz
Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Emily Mortimer, Stuart Townsend, Sarah ChalkeSynopsis:
An obsessive organizer, Frank is a devoted husband, loving father, celebrated author--and a man who is consumed with making lists. There's a daily list for just about everything--ferry schedules, deadlines, dry cleaning--every detail of his life meticulously mapped out to keep life on track. His beautiful wife, Susan, and his 7-year-old daughter Jesse, find his obsessiveness charming, if not a little frustrating at times. After a misunderstanding with his wife reveals new truths about his family and best friend Buddy, Frank throws caution to the wind and embarks on living life by chance.
While certainly not a great movie, Chaos Theory proves to be a fairly enjoyable ride. I found myself laughing along with this one. Check it out for yourself.
Something Random:

I'm pretty sure this random category is my favorite. Why? Because I get to recommend movies like OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies. A french spoof on the Bond architype, OSS 117 is France's top secret agent, and a complete moron. OSS 117 is a blast, go check it out.
