The weekend is insight which means another addition of the Friday Preview. Unfortunately, the movie drought continues as we are being treated to three terrible movies. Hollywood has gone and regurgitated three lackluster movies you have already seen and put new titles on them. Don't believe me, see for yourself.
I Am Number Four
Length: 1 hr 44 min
Rated: PG-13
Written by: Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, Marti Noxon
Cast: Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer
Official Synopsis:
Three are dead. He is Number Four. D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) helms an action-packed thriller about an extraordinary young man, John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events-his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny. John (Alex Pettyfer) is an extraordinary young man, masking his true identity and passing as a typical student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already been killed...he is Number Four. Based on the book by Pittacus Lore
Didn't this movie already come out? No wait, that was Jumper. Just like Jumper, this movie should flop. If it doesn't get ready for I am Number Five, Six, and Seven.
Unknown
Length: 1 hr 49 min
Rated: PG-13
Directed by: Jaume Collet-Serra
Written by: Stephen Cornwell, Oliver Butcher
Cast: Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger, January Jones, Aidan Quinn, Frank Langella, Bruno Ganz
Official Synopsis:
Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife (January Jones) suddenly doesn't recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity. Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by mysterious assassins, he finds himself alone, tired and on the run. Aided by an unlikely ally (Diane Kruger), Martin plunges headlong into a deadly mystery that will force him to question his sanity, his identity, and just how far he's willing to go to uncover the truth.
Didn't I already see this movie? No that's right, that was Taken. Sorry, I must be suffering from a severe case of Déjà vu.
Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son
Length: 1 hr 47 min
Rated: PG-13
Directed by: John Whitesell
Written by: Matthew Fogel
Cast: Martin Lawrence, Brandon T. Jackson
Official Synopsis:
Big Momma is back - and this time he has big backup: his teenage stepson Trent (Brendan T. Jackson). Martin Lawrence returns as FBI agent Malcolm Turner and as Turner's deep-cover alter-ego Big Momma. Turner is joined by Trent, as they go undercover at an all girls performing arts school after Trent witnesses a murder. Posing as Big Momma and as hefty coed Charmaine, they must find the murderer before he finds them.
Do we really need another Big Momma? Really? I guess Martin Lawrence needs another Big Momma, to keep his "career" afloat. I would love to know how much money Fox dropped on this pile of crap. Just think of all the better things that money could have gone to. Makes me sick.
Conclusion:
Stay home, all three nationwide release movies are nothing new or interesting, you've seen these movies before. For those of you lucky enough to live in a major city, look for We Are What We Are this weekend. I won't go into details, but it sounds like a solid flick.
